Zagato Alfa Romeo 2600 SZ
A sketch I did a while ago. Back to the grind after a very exciting weekend. Goal: concept story boards and rough mock-ups for three different concepts by Friday this week. Time to go~~~
Here is my first attempt at a detailed Cintiq render. It is the baby harness portion of a two piece system . I already see glaring issues with this concept, but o well, we talkin bout practice.
Long overdue but here is the preliminary research book for my thesis. Since this I have conducted multiple interviews, product evaluations and comparisons. I have also begun ideation and concept sketching. Just need to get it all digitized and put together. What did I get myself into!
The last thing that was standing in the way of my thesis. Finally done with last year and stupid incompletes!
Another project I just finished but is not related to my thesis. This is a compost bin I designed for the IHA housewares competition last year but due to ailments never finished until now. Glad to be done with that.
I realized its the 6th week and I have not drawn a single sketch. I did this quick sketch page before and during my materials selection and design class. Some rough soft-shell type carriers. Baby butt size adjustment straps on the top two and suspension cord supports on the lower right. I have been interviewing Mom’s around Lafayette and trying our their carriers. I have an appointment with my professor @ 5:00 tonight to visit her 1yr old and try out Ergo Baby and baby bjorn. Also I have some additional carriers ordered off of amazon that i will be evaluating and dissecting once they are delivered. Pics soon.
This is not related to my senior thesis, but it is what I did all weekend (6pm Fri-6pm Sun). I worked as a team leader on a phenomenal team of 10 design students. It was a corporate sponsored project with Hon, the furniture powerhouse. We had to come up with 24 concepts for educational furniture. Somehow we got it all done in time and it turned out better than I expected! Thanks team.
It been two weeks since I started this blog and I haven’t made any relevant posts yet, so… Last night I created a brand image to support my final product. “trage” the German noun/verb for wear, carry, bundle, pack, to hold. As in “babytragen,” the act of babywearing. Because my product will be focused around the parental embrace and transport of their infant/baby/child; I have chosen this word to define my efforts. This particular shade of orange I find very fresh and yummy.
This is my first time blogging, so bear with me. The point of this blog is to document the design process, as i make my way through my senior thesis (and share it with others). I am going to focus my project on “infant transportation.” Basically, how do you bring your baby with you. I will be investigating as many different users and scenarios as possible; all centered around keeping baby safe, comfortable, and happy. Be it by foot, by bike, by train, by plane, or automobile. We sha’ll see what happens. Enjoy.
